It’s Thursday evening, with some good red wine in hand, I take the time to ponder, to reflect on the week that was, my experience, others’ experiences…
Just a little calm, oh wait, just let me sip another sip, tonight’s delight is Pinotage, it’s not my favorite, favorite, but it was paired with medium ostrich steak, tonight’s supper, it is just perfect, just perfect.
It’s time to breathe, breathe into the week that is slowly drifting by…and Friday, she is just around the corner.
Wait, here’s another sip of plum, maybe some chocolate notes, mmm…
So my mind drifts, to my years of studying psychology, (it must be the wine) and my first introduction to Carl Jung, but tonight, I’m in no mood for theories, just quiet, just solace, so here are a few words from Jung:
“Solitude is for me a fount of healing which makes my life worth living. Talking is often a torment for me, and I need many days of silence to recover from the futility of words”
Yep, that about sums up my week thus far, I’m quiet now, in my favorite space, indulging in some slow gulps, yeah, still good. The heavens decided to bless us tonight, with some drops of H2O to replenish my garden, maybe even to contribute a drop or two to the ever-low dam levels around us. Water, even more, precious than gold, to us all these days.
Must be the wine, my mind is drifting, but here goes anyway. This week, I was completely consumed, despite my bulging calendar, by a precious colleague of mine from abroad, for the purpose of this blog, let’s call him GM. This week after thirty-five years of precious service, GM decided to retire, to move on, to start anew.
I read his last email, and I was in awe. Dedication, long hours, time away from family, in service of what he believed in, still believes in, his purpose, his fulfillment. The “other” most important part of his life. It was like looking into a canvas of art, as I read his words.
I hope that one day look back with such fondness, with such love, and at the same time, completely let go, move on, start a new adventure!
“Dear, GM, my warmest wishes on this new journey of your life, stay blessed my friend, I will never forget our corridor chats, our work together, the laughter, the coffee, the magic our team created. See you soon. ❤️🙏🏼”
Perhaps, my poetic offer for this week, makes sense, here’s the “The Sum of Life” for you all.
Whilst I relish this next sip, let me bid you all adieu, have a wonderful Friday, and a Blast Into the weekend!
❤️
