A Poetic Celebration, First Advent & Laughter

With our inaugural poetry exhibition ‘done and dusted’,

it’s time to take stock, reflect on the year that was, set sail as new opportunities linger, and relish the festivities as December beckons.

This past weekend played host to our inaugural exhibition, The Sahasra Collection. It was a special morning in the company of familiar faces, special friends and family. Guardians of Hope, our beneficiary, we’re so looking forward to visiting your home in Belgravia. We’ve not only amassed a wonderful collection of teddy bears for all the special babies but we’ve had kind patrons purchasing our poetry, sponsoring the sickbay at Guardians.

This week, Hope, dedicated to Guardians for Hope, is my first poetic reflection for you all.

These were times of celebration indeed and my humble thanks and gratitude to all of you that supported and attended the event.

I want to say a special thank you to Jade at Jade Garisch Studios, Mamta at the Indish Kitchen, Daggi from Daggie’s Express and Craig from the Bottle Boutique. You made our morning so special ❤️

On Saturday evening, I had the district privilege to attend ‘Afrika Sings’ at the Guild Theatre. Sonwa Sakuba and this extremely talented cast walked us through a most delightful musical journey through time, through African time. The show depicted a timeline through the ages, demonstrating the evolution of theatre, of drama, of song, of dance in South Africa and our artistic contribution to an international and national stage. This was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in a while.

I’m happy to know that art, creativity, and magic still reside here in East London.

This Sunday marked the first Advent, an old German tradition that we observe every year. As I sat there, listening to old German rhymes, and sipping on my mini G&T (yes, a mini), and nibbling on my ‘Spekulatius’ there was time to reflect, stand still and begin to look back at the year that was, and yes, what’s still to come.

As much as it’s time to celebrate, I wish you all safe times out there.

Let me leave you with another poetic reflection, That Laugh, it’s dedicated to my friend, AM, and it’s a testament that, whatever we may be doing, wherever we are, there’s always laughter, there’s always love ❤️
