Dear Poetry Lovers,
I‘m counting little blessings, this past week, it has been inspiring, humbling, and a reminder that there’s always a new Beginning somewhere to be celebrated.
Inspiration and Lynne Corby, a seamless match. Lynne and the team at Sculptures have been amazing, even in the times we’re living it right now. I love walking in, feeling safe and secure, greeted with smiles, being pampered, a space filled with laughter and passion! Thank You! You and your team make even the simplest of human activities like getting a haircut, a sublime experience, not to forget the heavenly head massage that’s an added spoil. Everyone I see there leaves with just a little bit more love in their heart and looking fabulous of course. To Lynne and the team, at Sculptures, much success for you all now, and in the future.
The second school term of 2021. It also brings ‚parent teacher meetings‘. A Meeting Elmarie Schwartz Botha, a woman of sacrifice, strength, and much wisdom, and yes, a love for dragonflies and fudge. I’d learned about Elmarie, through Trishara, my 17-year-old a while ago. I had no idea that our first meeting, to speak about Trishara‘s Afrikaans progress, would bring me to my knees in humbleness. You see, Elmarie had shared her life’s journey with her class one day, it had been a tough road that she’d walked, But she was not to be deterred, her unshakable faith in God and her love for making fudge had carried her through. Trishara had captured the story of her life’s journey in a little poem, Fudge. Yeah, this is one of those ‚the apple does not fall far from the tree‘ moments, Well done, my dearest Trishara, Mummy’s proud of you, so here’s Fudge… To Elmarie, Baie Dankie!
This past week, the phase of the New Moon ushers with it New Beginnings as always. I’ve known a strong, independent, determined young woman, Maria, for a good couple of years now. Over the past months, I’ve witnessed her straddle so many new life adventures, one being the magic of being pregnant. This past weekend, was Maria’s Baby Shower, she loves to call it, a celebration of life, it is indeed. To Maria, as you welcome in this new part of your life, here’s to Maria’s New Beginnings.
