It’s been a while since my last blog. Plenty has happened. Highlights, Interhouse Play and a Beautiful Matric Farewell.
My 18 year old, Trishara, besides looking beautiful at the Merrifield Matric Farewell this past weekend, has definitely found her voice, her writing voice. Since she was around three and a half years old, she has been fascinated by the environment. I still recall vividly, one of our vacations down the coastline to Knysna.
There were water restrictions in the town, with signage throughout encouraging it’s town folk to preserve water. Moreover there was this sign, something to the effect of save water, 1 minute in the shower, costs 12 litres of water.
This was engrained in Trishara’s mind. Since then, there’s been this consciousness about the environment. Today, she even studies Geography, is fascinated by hurricanes and volcanoes the world over. She is on the path to becoming a vegan, yep, I must say, I’m tempted, but I do enjoy a carnivorous treat, every now and again.
Back to the Interhouse Play, she entitled it ‘A Whole New World’. It tells the story of a tourist scam, selling a holiday package to an island, an island of plastic. I must admit, I’d taken a quick look through her script whilst it was been written, but boy, was I enthralled by this story, funny, contemporary and yet, delivering the poignant message, that, today, we all have a role to play, in conserving our planet.
I’m a proud Mum, ❤️ Whilst I sat in that theatre seat, and watched with wonder, not only did I enjoy a piece of pure magic, that had me in stitches of laughter from the opening act… I got to see a small sense of Trishara’s independence, a tiny glimpse of what maybe her contribution to the world, through her writing, through her own passion for this planet ❤️
I’m still digesting all of this, as a Mum, I guess it’ll come full circle in time to come.
Mummy loves you, my doll face ❤️ Go out and conquer this world ⭐️ As much as I’m experiencing this ‘slipping through my fingers’ moment, I’m delighted that I get to call you, mine, still ♥️
I’ve yet to enrobe all of my feelings about this process into a poem… I will.
But this week, actually just yesterday, little Gianni turned one year old. For those fans of pralenepoetry out there, you will know that it was just over a year ago, that I featured Maria Bennett and her beautiful path to motherhood on my blog… well Gianni is now one, and as traditions continue… Gianni, is my poetic musing for this week. Happy Birthday 🎈 ‘Baby G’ … ❤️ and Mama Maria, you’ve done an amazing job 🤗 You’ve embraced motherhood ‘like a duck to water’ there’s many adventures in store, kids grow up quickly, enjoy every moment ⭐️
